MY SELECTION OF WORKS FOUND HERE HAVE BEEN MADE WITH THE PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATING THE CONTINUED SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RELIGIOUS IN OUR SECULARISED CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY. THE WORKS ARE PICTORIALLY REPRESENTED THROUGH MY OWN IDIOSYNCRATIC PAINTING STYLE CONSISTING OF SIMPLY ACRYLIC PAINT, OIL STICK AND COLLAGE.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH MY BELIEF THAT FINE ART SHOULD EMPHASISE IDEAS OF BEAUTY, I INVITE THE VIEWER TO ENJOY THE VISUAL PHENOMENON CREATED THROUGH THE JUXTAPOSITION OF PATTERNS AND COLOURS. TO ENHANCE THE VISUAL EFFECT FURTHER, PAINT IS IMPLIED IMPASTO AND FORMS ARE OFTEN APPLIED IN COLLAGE TO ESTABLISH RELIEF.

AS SOCIETY MOVES TOWARDS SECULARISATION, THE TRADITIONAL REDEMPTIVE QUALITY WHICH RELIGIOUS ART ORIGINALLY SOUGHT TO PROVIDE IS VIEWED AS EVER INSIGNIFICANT. HOWEVER, INSTEAD OF INDULGING IN POPULAR RADICAL INDIVIDUALISM AND THE FOLLY OF UTOPIANISM, MY INTENTION IS TO REEMPHASISE THE IMPORTANCE OF TRADITIONAL VALUES THROUGH RECOURSE TO RELIGIOUS NARRATIVES THAT ARE CONTEXTUALISED IN CONTEMPORARY SETTINGS AND SPACES.
